As a surgery, we are committed to making our services accessible to patients who are Deaf, hard of hearing, non-speaking, or have other communication needs.
We can pre-book British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters and other appropriate communication support to help you communicate with our team and access the care you need.
Once you have told us about your communication needs, we will update your patient record so that our team is aware of the support you require. This means you won’t need to tell us each time you book an appointment that you require an interpreter.
Once you have told us your requirements, we will send a text message to your mobile phone containing a short video explaining how to book an appointment when a BSL interpreter is required.
How to Book an appointment
We have made it easier for you to tell us when you need an appointment with an accompanying British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter.
During our working hours:
- Go to Submit online consultation (link below)
- Select New condition.
- Select BSL.
- Complete the short form, telling us:
- What day you would prefer your appointment.
- Whether you would prefer AM or PM.
- A brief summary of what you need the appointment for.
- Submit your request.
A member of our team will then contact you to arrange your appointment and the accompanying BSL interpreter.
You do not need to arrange the interpreter separately — we will organise this for you.
Please note: This service is not for emergency appointments. If you need urgent or emergency medical help, please use the appropriate urgent or emergency care service.
